Life's too short

to think your job sucks!

Remember when you first got into teaching full of optimism that you we're going to be gods-gift to education! All the parents would love you, the kids would all behave so beautifully and really respect you, and during the school holidays you'd lay on the beach without a care in the world.

Weren't we delusional!?!

I had my first class in 2007 at Maihiihi School just out of Te Awamutu. I started the year with 9 Year 1/2's, and ended with 27 year 0-3's. There was a mother that made my life a living hell, a 55 minute commute each way, oh, and I was 8.5 months pregnant by the time we got to the end of year prizegiving. I learned some things that year!

The biggest lesson: teaching isn't something you can do alone.

Our kids deserve incredible teachers,

our teachers deserve incredible support.

Monthly Motivation Coaching

Regular professional coaching to get your career back on track.

When I sat down to write the business plan for Coaching CoLab, it was pretty simple: create services that I wish I'd had access to when I was a teacher. The number 1 thing I wish I'd had, was an impartial person from outside of my own school to talk to about the things that were going on for me. So here we are- this is the program to help you get from where you are right now, to where you actually want to be.

Why this approach works:

Advice, information and ideas about what you should do, are free and freely available (I'm sure your partner/friends/colleagues are full of suggestions for you). But, these things alone don't create change. It's accountability and support that turns ideas into actions, and they're the things worth investing in.As your accountability buddy throughout this monthly motivation coaching, I make sure this isn't a spray-and-walk-away relationship. I'll check in with you regularly to make sure you're doing the things that you want to be doing, and not getting distracted by any drama that pops up.

What we'll focus on:

Have you ever heard of the term 'moan-bonding'? It's what happens when you discuss work with your colleagues, and instead of moving forward, you just cycle around and around the same complaints. We won't be doing that!

The benefit of having a coach, is having an impartial sounding board: someone who can see past the personalities, pitfalls and history of your workplace and help you discover the things that you can change: the attitude you bring to work each day and the actions you'll take as a result.

What's Included:

Every month we'll have a proper catch up. We'll put aside an hour to talk on Google Meet and turn around the things that aren't working for you right now. I'll also email you at the end of each week to check in on how you're going with the changes that you want to be making.

Ways to get started:

If you subscribe to monthly motivation coaching using the links on this page, you'll get started on an open-term subscription. Some people find that 2 or 3 months of coaching is all they need to get back on track. Other people have kept renewing their subscriptions for years to make sure they've got some extra support on board to navigate any hairy situation that pops up. You can of course cancel at any time.

If you're a principal and want to fund this program for one of your colleagues, just send me the address of your admin person and how many months you want to sign your colleague up for, and I'll send an invoice to your school.

Fine Print

You can start your motivation coaching program any time you like - no need to wait for the start of the month or anything like that. As soon as you sign up I'll send you a booking link and you can go ahead and book all of your Google Meet sessions in right away, or play it fast and loose and book them as you go.

Payment for your subscription via credit/debit card is available through the sign up links all over this page. After pay is not available for this service. If your school is picking up the tab, please give me a yell and let me know your admin person's email address and I'll fire through an invoice. I draw the line at getting a cheque in the mail though. #boundaries

You're signing up to an open-term subscription with this program. I'll check in with you each term about continuing your subscription, and you can pause or cancel it at any time you like. Likewise, if I go 4 weeks without hearing from you, I'll cancel it at my end.

Your confidentiality is my priority so I'll never share what we chat about with anyone. Even if your boss/Nana/partner is paying for it. As an ICF accredited coach, I follow their code of ethics. They're pretty hardcore, so your professional growth records are safe with me.
